Dear Church Family: I want to say thank you for the hard work you accomplished in the year 2009. You worked, and we work together in sharing with those in need so along with Paul, I say we all can rejoice because God kept his promise: “And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” We now face 2010, another opportunity to be in ministry with Christ. There are many prayer opportunities for us to participate in. The first opportunity is for us to pray for our Festival of Faith that takes place from Sunday, February 28 - Wednesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. The Rev. Dickie Knight, pastor of Lexington UMC, will be our preacher. We will kick off this opportunity with a covered dish dinner on Sunday in the Dent Building at 6 p.m. We will conclude with an ice cream social on Wednesday in the Dent Building. We’ll have the Drive Thru Drama on March 26-27, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. We will also be offering Bible studies. I’m praying about a Bible study being offered in the morning for those who don’t like to come out at night. Now, I’d like to give you the advantage of reading and studying the scripture for Lent - Easter; the theme for Lent - Easter is: “Sounds of the Passion”. 1st Sunday in Lent: February 21 2nd Sunday in Lent: February 28 Scripture: Luke 19:41-44 Scripture: Matthew 27:3-10 Sermon: “The Sound of Weeping” Sermon: “The Clanking of Coins” 3rd Sunday in Lent: March 7 4th Sunday in Lent: March 14 Women in the Pulpit Sunday Scripture: John 13:4-5; Matthew 27:15-26 Speaker: Annie Edwards Sermon: “The Dripping of Water” 5th Sunday in Lent: March 21 Palm Sunday: March 28 Scripture: Matthew 26:31-35, 69-75 Scripture: Luke 19:28-38 Sermon: “The Crowing of a Rooster” Sermon: “The Clop, Clop, Clop of the Donkey” Easter Sunday: April 4 Easter Sunday: April 4 Sunrise Service: 6:30 a.m. Morning Worship: 11 a.m. Scripture: Luke 24:1-12 Scripture: Matthew 28:1-8 Sermon: “Third Day Events” Sermon: “The Sound of Everlasting Joy” Now that I’ve given you a good bit to digest, remember, together we can do great things as we pray and follow God’s will for our community.
